What if it's all just a dream!*

Hmm. What if everything is ‘just a dream’?
This ‘everything,’ of course, includes you and me—
not to mention time, space, light, humanness, consciousness
and anything else that we can inventively conjure up.
What if it’s all not the “reality” that we’ve assumed it to be?
What would it be like to let go of the belief
that this real-appearing human scene is tangible and real?
In this sharing, I’m now inviting us to play together
in our human creation for these few moments
with the assumption that, yes, it’s only a dream—
not the physical, material reality that we've thought.
For reference, let’s recall what we know about dreaming.
In our nightly dreams, everything in that dream appears real—
every person, interaction, circumstance and event.
It’s only when we wake up that we have the instant realization:
“Oh, it was only a dream!”
What if we realized, while in the middle of our dream experience,
that our dream was only a phantasm, a creatively invented fairy tale …
… only a symbolically rich, imaginative dream?
Such over-the-forest awareness doesn’t take anything away
from the meaning or symbolism of our dream, of course.
But it does eliminate our belief
that it’s so serious and oh-so important.
It also allows us to be in the dream’s drama
with the same experience we have
when we’re entranced by reading a children’s fairy tale,
devouring a novel’s compelling drama,
watching a captivating movie
or being entertained by a fascinating play.
In short, it’s unburdening, freeing, liberating
and perhaps even downright entertaining.
So, let’s experiment with having an “awake dream” right now.
First, let’s picture everything about you and me,
including your human life and its compelling circumstances,
as the equivalent of an inventive dream—
or, if you prefer, a dynamic fairy tale,
an imaginative movie or a creative story.
Second, envision a beyond-human, bigger-than-life version of yourself—
perhaps yourself as a being of light
or, better yet, as a quantum non-being—
dreaming or imagining yourself as a real-deal human being .
With this outside-the-dream vision, you can remind yourself
that everything in your imagined dream or story
is happening only in your expansive quantum consciousness—
as if you’re imagining it on an invisible movie screen
of your own making.
On that dream-filled screen, you’re showcasing yourself
undergoing numerous possibilities
taking place under multiple circumstances.
In short, the dreamed version of you is nothing more than
your bigger-than-life consciousness
imagining itself in the form of tangible expressions,
varying possibilities and differing manifestations—
in other words, in the same way that the ‘human you’ dreams
versions of yourself in your nightly dreams.
Why the dream? you might ask.
What’s the purpose of your and my dreamed human fantasy?
What if I told you that its primary purpose is to imagine
your quantum nothingness as a tangible something-ness,
to visualize your invisible and limitless possibilities
as material, energetic and physical expressions,
to picture your pure light as dynamic energy,
to envision your expansive consciousness
as only three- and four-dimensional,
and the like?
What if your beyond-the-human-dream, quantum self
is just having fun
dreaming about all the possible forms and expressions
you might take in this spacetime-filled dream,
visualizing the many circumstances you might navigate,
and fancying the many ‘somethings’ you could accomplish?
What if the ‘quantum dreamer you’ even added to your dream
challenging mindsets like ‘good vs. bad’ and ‘right vs. wrong’—
for no other reason except to witness
what you might do with these opposing dualities?
The above interpretation leads us to an interesting insinuation:
Maybe our human dream isn’t about our assumed consequences—
such as going to the heaven or hell, accumulating good or bad karma,
or the many other ‘reward/punishment’ effects
that so often engender fear, guilt or a needless sense of seriousness.
Maybe, as the saying goes, “It’s just a dream!”
An adventure, perhaps. A journey, an experiment, a story.
A powerful experience of being imagined
and imagining ourselves
as real-deal, physical, emotional, rational,
energy-filled, individual human beings—
having an exciting, enticing, challenging, adventuresome,
dynamic, real-feeling, ever-changing, duality-filled,
walking-on-both-sides-of-the-spectrum,
encountering-every-possible-expression
kind of a dream!
What if you and I are dreaming ourselves
as limited, striving, needful or ‘problemed’
just to contemplate what that experience would be like?
What if it’s not so real, so literal, so intense,
so serious, so important or so burdensome after all?
What if the majority of our human guilts and fears
are but needless side effects of our learned
moral beliefs and assumptions about the nature of ‘reality’
as those beliefs fill the space of the dream?
What if we’re taking it all so seriously
just to finally realize how un-serious it all really is?
Finally, what if you and I, as the main actors in our individual dreams,
are ultimately in this dream in order to wake up?
To wake up? You ask.
Yes, to wake up to the bigger reality or realities
that lay in wait for us beyond our human dream.
The reality, for example, that these humanly imagined limitations
are way too small to describe the amazing beings that we are.
The reality that we are, in truth, vast beings of light—
where that bright light, in the form of our personal soul,
is actually and already holding the bigger truth of us,
just waiting for us to wake up enough to discover it.
The reality that you and I, as we take giant leaps forward
in our dream, are now ready to take
one big, perhaps final, leap, the quantum leap—
where we finally, perhaps even right now, wake up
to the fact that we're also the quantum dreamer,
as well as the humanly dreamed,
and that, as such, we have the right and authority
to re-evaluate this real-looking human dream of ours
through a purely quantum lens.
Through this way-way-way-above-the-forest quantum lens,
we realize that all of our human beliefs and values,
compelling and convincing as they are from inside the dream,
are entirely too small, anthropomorphic and limited
compared to the bigger spiritual and quantum truth(s)
that lay in wait for us beyond this dream.
We realize that the dream is merely the quantum source’s
imagined contemplation of “What would it look like if?”—
as examples: What if I were something rather than nothing?
What if I were space … time … universe … light … energy …
consciousness … emotions … physical … human?
What would being those “reality-seeming” manifestations
of my nothingness look like, feel like, sound like?
What do all of these interpretations sound like to you?
What does your all-knowing soul think about them?
Could it be that, as happens for almost all of us,
you’ve fallen for “the dream’s human story,”
taken it too seriously, believed its dream-centered teachings,
gotten onboard its duality-filled theories,
said yes to its fear-inducing invitations
to continue to feel small, limited and/or incomplete?
I invite you to wake up!
To wake up to the fact that “This is all just a dream!”
A dream about imagination being experienced as reality,
about unity being experienced as duality,
about your inherent emptiness being experienced as form,
about your light being experienced as energy and emotion,
about your fullness being experienced as inadequacy,
about your quantum-hood being experienced as human-hood.
When we actually become awakened to this quantum reality,
we can walk through the ins-and-outs of our human dream
with a quantum vision, knowing and freedom.
We can participate in our quantum source’s enjoyment
as we witness our dream-living selves just as it does—
with a sense of awe, fascination and wonder.
We can be the quantum dreamer
side-by-side with being the ‘dreamed human’
and, well, actually enjoy the show like never before.
Welcome to the quantum dream!
