Our Human Mind*
How it's helpful ... How it's not

In our current age, where science often reigns supreme,
we humans have strongly placed our focus and trust
in the human mind—
what psychologists call our ‘conscious mind.’
We often take pride in the sophistication
of our beliefs, worldviews and mindsets.
We thrill at our technological achievements,
scientific discoveries and philosophical theories.
In short, we often view our minds as the poster child
of our human experience.
Rightly so, I might add.
Indeed, these admirable minds of ours are a mighty tool
for practical efficiency, effective planning,
logical thinking and reason-filled accomplishments.
Physicists, architects, engineers and mathematicians alike
owe much of their notable accomplishments
to the impressive capacities of our prized human minds.
All together, then, let’s shout out a thunderous “Bravo!”
in honoring, appreciating and celebrating our minds!
Now, I’d like to add a “Yes, but …!” to the above accolade.
Yes, these admirable minds of ours
powerfully serve the practical needs of our human world,
but they are not necessarily hard-wired for serving
our other-than-practical needs:
those of our spiritual, heartful, energy-oriented,
or quantum worlds.
Why do I share this strong opinion with you?
Because our minds are three- and four-dimensionally oriented.
They mainly specialize in the intricacies of space, time and physicality.
They major in helping us live in a duality-centered world.
They are experts in morality and morally-driven values,
right-wrong evaluations and moral judgments.
They employ a style of logic and reason that is rooted
in the project of “How to be and do human,”
not the project of how to be and do anything else.
“What’s my point?” you’re perhaps wondering. (You’re so subtle!).
If you’re reading this blog message, chances are that,
side-by-side with living your personal and human life,
you’re also living a spiritual, heartful and/or energy-filled life,
not to mention embracing your deeper quantum identity.
Does your human/conscious mind’s logic and thinking style
masterfully support you in these beyond-human quests?
I think not.
Frankly, I talk to people every day who unwittingly use their minds
as a primary tool for being spiritual or ‘other-than-human.’
And, as a result, they struggle, get confused and discouraged,
and eventually hit a dead-end in their well-intentioned efforts
to embrace, live in and identify with their beyond-human nature.
Let me be a bit specific here.
If you find yourself using moral evaluations in your spiritual,
quantum or other-dimensional pursuits—such as
“This is right; that’s wrong,” or “I should do this, not that,” etc.—
then you’re using a very unhelpful human mind-based tool
to serve a purpose that is simply way beyond its capacities.
Equally, if you’re using your mind’s duality-based thinking
to foster your spiritual, heartful or quantum identity—
rather than using your spirit’s unity-based thinking,
your light’s being-based thinking
or your heart’s love-based thinking—
you’re destined to stay stuck in a dualistic human identity.
Let’s face it. Most of us don’t even think about this.
Duality-based and morality-centered logic just seem so natural.
And it is natural, but mainly to serve our human functioning.
That’s why it’s the single mind that we’re trained to use in school.
As the saying goes, “Everyone’s doing it!”
And you would be right: Religions do it, philosophies do it,
psychologies do it, even some spiritualities do it.
To stop using our mind’s otherwise beautiful human gifts
in support of an other-than-, bigger-than-human calling
could easily seem downright counter-intuitive.
Counter-intuitive or not,
let’s take a good, hard look at a bigger reality.
You and I have other resources … other ‘minds’
that are tailor-made to support
our spiritual and quantum identities.
These custom-designed minds are just as available to us
as are our humanly taught and trained conscious minds.
One of these alternative minds is our “Super-conscious mind.”
We can also call it our spiritual mind, light-filled mind,
soulful mind or even mystical mind, as you please.
This mind specializes not in duality but in unity and oneness.
It knows how to support your nature as a light being
more than as a physical or traditionally human being.
It can speak to you through the ‘inner ears’ of your soul,
using your internal soul as its supportive voice
to your intuitive awareness.
A second alternative for your use is your “Heart-centered mind.”
This mind sees everything about you and everything around you
through the wide-open eyes of pure love.
It’s free from the seeming rules of both duality and morality;
it knows your integral worth and innate value,
not based on a concept of your deservingness or merit,
but ‘just ‘cuz’ you’re you,
perfectly created “in the image and likeness of God.”
This deeply devoted mind can guide you to your spiritual fullness
in ways that your judgment-filled mind simply can’t.
A third alternate mind, if you care to use it,
is your “Essence-conscious mind.”
We can also refer to it as you ‘being’ or ‘is-ness’ mind.
Here, where you “just are” and everything else “just is,”
you are filled with a unique kind of knowing:
one that allows you a peaceful state of neutrality,
absent of any judgment or sense of opposition.
Finally, let’s consider your most powerful mind of all:
your “quantum mind,” the mother of all minds!
When you step inside this beyond-creation mind,
you discover an entirely different view of everything.
You see yourself and your life as a gigantic dream,
your seeming existence as an enticing phantasm
and your earth adventure as a meaningful set of experiences.
No hint of duality, morality or obligation.
In their place, only a creative game to be played
and, yes, celebrated.
By my informal count, we’ve just visited four enticing,
creative and powerful “alternative” minds.
I personally find it strangely ironic that,
with so many different styles of perceiving, interpreting,
thinking, knowing and believing at our beck-and-call,
we humans keep calling upon the “human” mind
to help us live in our bigger-dimensional realities.
What do you think would happen if you called upon
your trustworthy human (or conscious) mind
to support you strongly in all your human pursuits,
then systematically called upon some (or all) of your other minds
as helpful tools to serve your other-dimensional nature?
Could this be that moment in your life—
that precious moment of your personal singularity—
to take that plunge … to visit those other minds daily?
Could this be your moment to claim who you really are:
a powerful holistic, multi-dimensional, spiritual, heartful,
light-filled, quantum and bigger-than-life being?
And, in that process, equally to claim the many minds
that are designed to support your bigger identities?
Could this be your time to leap vigorously
into the enormous truth of who you are,
not just using your custom-designed minds,
but living in each of them full-time?
Could this be your moment to look in the mirror
through the lenses of each of these inventive minds,
to observe and witness what you see?
Perhaps look through one mind at a time,
taking notice of what each of these minds sees.
I especially invite you to notice the many-faceted “you,”
the bigger versions of ‘self’ and non-self’ that you are
when visualized by your different minds?
The truth about you, I deeply believe, is:
You’re utterly amazing. You’re like a crystal:
a quantum giant at your center
while strikingly multi-faceted in your expressions.
You live in so many marvelous dimensions,
with each one of those dimensions accessible to you
in the multiple minds that live within your human fabric.
Please … please … please …
visit every facet of yourself … every day.
Step into each of your bigger-dimensional minds … every day.
Get to know each of these wondrous minds … every day.
Learn the language of each of them … every day.
Live more and more in each of them … every day.
Embrace each of them, love each of them,
treasure each of them, become each of them,
use the gifts of each of them … every day.
When you do, I deeply believe that you’ll find
the big picture and meaning of creation—
and of your very self—
that you’ve been searching for.
And, who knows, you might even wind up
living in the power, wonder and fullness
that is waiting for you
in each one of these made-to-order minds of yours.
Thank you for being the amazing ‘you’ that you are!
