Memorial Mass

Quantum Source ... Quantum World ... Quantum Void ... Quantum You!
I attended a Memorial Mass this morning
in the RC Church where I grew up in Faith.
Feeling a bit disgruntled with the building remodels
and missing the smell of incense.
The Service was nice but I missed the Latin,
my time to go deep inside and just be.
The songs were okay but there was no harmony in the voices,
feeling almost stagnant.
Then during a stirring rendition of “Battle Hymn of the Republic”
I burst into sobs as my crushed heart opened.
And my grief poured out for all that was missing
and for my dear neighbor
who will never laugh with her husband again.
I sat with that for the past few hours and I now consider:
That my Latin reflections were my passage into the Quantum from Baptism on
That the hymns we joyfully sang were my Inner Expression of Creation
That my voice was and still is my gift
And that I’ve been awakened to my potentiality again.
And for whoever chose to offer “Battle Hymn of the Republic”
as a Communion Hymn, I am very grateful.
