His Beautiful Gift of Timelessness

The following is a true story about my golden retriever, Eli,

and his beautiful gift of timelessness.

It was a normal day with nothing much happening.

Eli was relaxing on the steps between the game room and kitchen

with his head resting on his two front paws.

I was on my way out the door to run an errand or two

when I heard Eli say he would not live much longer.

I turned around and looked at Eli for a long minute.

My eyes clouded with tears and I wept.

Just two weeks later, on May 16, 2010 my precious 9 year old pup passed away.

He woke up that Sunday morning and did not move his body for the entire day.

That evening he closed his eyes and passed.

Hysterical crying took me over.

I simply could not stop the tears from flowing.

My heart mourned, and my spirit weakened with intense grief.

On the third day after his death Eli came to me in a vision.

I saw his head resting on his two front paws

and saw his eyes look at me with loving affection.

What a beautiful sight!!!

He then spoke to me and said,

“I will be with you in no time”.

Instantly, the illusive veil of separation lifted

and any sense of time slipped away.

That day the beautiful gift of timelessness freed me of everything,

every preference,

every perspective,

and every bit of knowing.
